I say dolphin but actually it is Shachihoko or Shachi.
A mythical creature with the head of a tiger and the body of fish.
They are believed to have the power to preventing fire.

It is not filled in gold.
The dolphin shaped structure was made by wood and painted in lacquer.
Then thin plated gold were placed all over.
